Doing Mum Things While I Still Can

My disability means that I could become paralysed at any time, but I don’t want that to define me. I want to be able to do ‘Mum’ things that other Mums do.

So I decided to have a few days away with my youngest daughter over the holidays, just her and me. There’s a big gap between her and my other children – almost 10 years – so they are actually adults, working and with their own lives. This means she’s like a lone child and now she’s started secondary school I feel I’m going to blink and she’s going to be an adult. After all, that’s how it happened with the others…๐Ÿ˜•

So we went to the coast on Monday morning, having a pit stop in Brentwood for lunch at Sugar Hut and a walk around visiting the TOWIE ‘celebs’ shops with the possibility of meeting them again for a picture or two.

Now, you have to understand. I don’t watch TOWIE, never have. And nor does my daughter. But there are some vloggers whose recordings are aimed at girls around my daughters age and they talk incessantly about these celebrities and their clothes, make up, stomping ground etc., etc.
I find it so sad that they are almost encouraged to grow up too quickly now. I thought this trip would be a good way to get my little girl back, if only for a little while.

So we chose our outings.

  1. ย Monday, Brentwood to see TOWIE celebs (we didn’t) & eat at Sugar Hut (we did), then to the house to settle in

  2. Tuesday a.m., Cinema to see Trolls
  3. Tuesday p.m., The Zoo for Fright Night ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

  4. Wednesday, Colchester shopping trip

  5. Wednesday evening,home

Although the trip made my pain significantly worse, it was SO worth it to spend some time with my little girl again, rather than the stroppy pre teen that I’ve been dealing with since puberty kicked in at the start of the year. ๐Ÿ™„

She’s so good with regards to my illness. So mature in some ways, but it’s still nice to spend time with the little girl that’s inside her – at least for now….๐Ÿ˜‰
